Wendy began her public sector career at Barnsley Council; managing the delivery of front line services in local offices and the contact centre. She moved to Wakefield District Housing as a Business Analyst and then spent 11 years at the Department for Work and Pensions where she headed up large change & transformation teams; designing and delivering a brand-new service for jobseekers looking as well as playing a leading role in the development and implementation of the government’s Kickstart Scheme. She served as Deputy Principal Private Secretary to 3 Secretaries of State over a 3-year period and worked on preparing for a no deal Brexit and the COVID19 pandemic amongst other things. Wendy left DWP for the NHS as Head of Delivery for Dental System Reform, delivering the first changes to the NHS dental contract since 2006.

Wendy began her role as Executive Director for Core Services at Barnsley Council in April 2023. Her area of responsibility takes in Finance and Commercial, Legal and Governance, Digital Transformation, HR, Organisational Design, Business Intelligence and Communications.
